Stockpile All Your Ideas in One Location With Draft Articles

A number of EzineArticles Expert Authors already use the power of the Draft Status to store article ideas and save partially-developed articles.

You, too, can use this feature to keep all of your articles organized right inside your EzineArticles account, worry-free. The best part is that once they're in their place on your account, you won't have to go searching all over to find them.

What Are Draft Articles?

An EzineArticles Draft Article is any article that has been saved within the article submission interface. A Draft Article is:

  • NOT live on EzineArticles.com
  • NOT submitted for EzineArticles Editorial Review
  • Saved within the EzineArticles article submission interface by:
    • Clicking on the Save as Draft button at the bottom of the article submission interface
    • The EzineArticles Auto-Save Option, which automatically saves your article as a draft every 2 minutes

There are two different types of Draft Articles:

  1. Never Submitted – An article that has been produced and saved, but never submitted
  2. Modified Article – An article that's live or in review that has been edited or modified and saved, but never re-submitted.

Any article you produce or edit that's then saved within the article submission interface will be placed in Draft Status. You can rely on the system to save your draft so you can go back to it in the future.

Other Key Points

  • Draft Articles are purged after 30 days if they haven't been submitted or re-submitted.
  • An article in Draft Status is NOT live. You must Submit This Article or Re-Submit This Article in order to have it reviewed and posted live on EzineArticles.com.

Transparent Drafts

Also, if you accidentally close the browser window while you're writing in the article submission interface, the Transparent Draft feature will save the article. The next time you log in, you simply click on Submit A New Article under the Article Manager dropdown and you'll be asked if you want to save the draft to back it up.

Using Drafts Your Way

There are a variety of different ways you can use the Draft Status to save ideas and articles. Here are just a few that we've heard from authors:

  • Store Ideas - Save article ideas as titles on your account. When you are brainstorming ideas, you want to let those creative juices flow. You don't want to get caught up in the little details of each article, so just give yourself a brief explanation of the idea and save the article as a draft. Then, when you have time to write a full article, go back to your Draft Articles and start writing.

  • Save a Work in Progress - If you didn't have a chance to work an article all the way through to completion, save it as a draft for later. Just remember to get back to it when you have time.

  • "Sleep" on an Article - Save articles as drafts after they are complete so you can take some time to get away from them. Then, after a short break, like overnight, revisit the article with a fresh mind before submitting it. This "break time" will give you a chance to disconnect yourself from the article and view it more like it's your first time experiencing it.

Whether you use the article submission form or some other program like Word, saving your articles as Drafts is a good way to keep your account organized. Have any thoughts or recommendations on how others can use the Draft feature? Visit this post online to share.
